Since 2003, Benedikt Ortmann, PhD, dedicates his career to photovoltaic projects all over the world. Before joining the team at BayWa r.e. in 2011, he built the international project business for SOLON SE, Berlin, from scratch and turned it into a successful and highly profitable business division. His career in the renewable energy business started at S.A.G. Solarstrom AG, Freiburg, where he was CFO from 2003 until 2006.

BayWa r.e. Solar Projects GmbH is one of the TOP 10 solar development companies worldwide, providing greenfield development, turnkey construction, O&M, financing and sales of photovoltaic power plants. The company has installed a solar capacity of more than 1 GW and is a subsidiary of BayWa r.e., a part of the BayWa AG.

Pietro Radoia is a senior solar analyst at Bloomberg New Energy Finance. He joined BNEF's solar team in early 2011, and covers European PV markets, secondary PV market activity, and PV Levelized Cost of Electricity analysis. Before joining Bloomberg New Energy Finance, Pietro completed an MSc in Environmental Technology at Imperial College, where he specialised in Environmental Economics & Policy. Prior to his postgraduate studies he worked for the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) in Brussels for two years.

Since May 2017 Luca Matrone is the Global Head of the Energy industry in the Corporate & Investment Banking Division of Intesa Sanpaolo, with the coverage responsibility for both the Power & Utility and the Oil & Gas sectors. Previously he headed the Energy M&A team in Banca IMI, the investment bank of Intesa Sanpaolo group, leading the main M&A transactions completed by the bank. Luca coordinated several M&A and financing transactions in the solar space for clients such as Enel, F2i, Tages, NextEnergy Capital, ERG, Aristhon Thermo, Viridis, Maccaferri Group. He joined Banca IMI in 2000. Luca graduated in business administration from Bocconi University in Milan.

Virginia is a senior energy consultant and electrical engineer with 15 years of experience, specialized in electricity market design, regulation, and power system operations. At REF-E, she leads consultancy advisory and research, focusing on forecasting and simulation of the energy markets. Virginia supported many operators in the strategic assessment of new investments, business planning, trading optimization, risk management, contract renegotiations, antitrust procedures and regulatory issues, with a specific focus on the evaluation of the impact of the new reforms concerning ancillary services market, capacity market, renewable integration. Virginia supported the main Institution in regulatory and policy decisions. At the present moment Virginia is leading the PPA Committee (in collaboration with Public Affairs Advisors and Paul Hastings) and she is involved in many projects on innovative business models for renewable and storage. Virginia is professor at University of Pavia - Faculty of Engineering- Master of Science degree course "Power Systems Management, Automation and Information".

Graduated from Polytechnic of Turin in Italy with an Electronics Engineering degree; MBA from INSEAD business school (Fontainebleau, France). Worked with Andersen Consulting in Spain and with FMC in California (US). Michele was then a Senior Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company, in the Milan office (92-96). During this period he was part of the media, retail and fashion practice. In 1997 Michele co-founded Net Partners Ventures, the first venture capital company in Europe focusing exclusively on internet companies, 215 million raised, 30 investments, highest IRR in Europe in the sector, 5 invested companies floated (e.g. Mutui Online and Yoox in Italy). In 2005, Michele founded A.M.E. Ventures, an investment holding focused on early stage companies, which counts several investments at day. AME Ventures has controlling stake in Solar Ventures, which represents Michele's main activity, where he is directly involved as Chairman and CEO. Solar Ventures is an IPP and developer focused on developing, building , financing and managing utility scale PV plants globally, with a strong expertise in Italy, Europe and Emerging Markets, where it has been active since 2007. To date it has developed globally 500 MWp of solar power plants, with more than 280 MWp of plants in Europe. The company stands today as one of the few integrated solar platforms operating in southern Europe.

Graduated in Electric Engineering at University of Pavia in 1995 with a degree thesis about PV for the developing countries, he worked in the pvmodules production in Eurosolare (ENI) and in distribution and system integration with DEA. In 2001 he managed the connection of the first residential Italian pv system and he founded Enerpoint, for many years one of the worldwide pv leading companies. Now he’s managing Enerpointpv assets.
In 2015 he founded ITALIA SOLARE, of which he’s President. ITALIA SOLARE is the only Italian association 100% dedicated to PV, with about 500 members.

Alberto Cuter has been involved in renewable energy since 2008. He served as Sales Director in Phoenix Solar and Heliosphera and joined Jinko Solar in 2010. He opened the Italian branch and developed the Italian market positioning Jinko as leader modules supplier in 2011 and 2012. In 2013 he was appointed as Sales Director of Emerging Markets (LATAM and MEA). He developed and positioned Jinko as market leader in the most important market such as South Africa and Chile with more than 30% of market share, making Jinko the leader modules supplier in the region.
As per new strategy of Jinko management, in July 2015 he was appointed as a General Manager Latam and Italy to lead a team of high professional managers in 7 countries across the region. Actually Jinko has been recognized as market leader in Chile, Brazil and Central America, with more than 5 GW sold in the region.
Prior to stepping into solar PV industry, Alberto Cuter has worked in the telecommunication Industry as Sales Director in companies as Telecom Italia, Wind and Deloitte Consulting.

Rodolfo began his career in the renewables field in 2008, developing and constructing PV projects across Italy, before going on to hold senior roles for both US and Chinese solar manufacturers. He subsequently joined Hideal Partners as Business Development Manager where he worked on several infrastructure M&A transactions across Europe. He then moved to NextEnergy Capital as Vice President where he lead the set-up of the Italian dedicated private equity fund ‘NextPower II’ which raised €150 million. He is also the Managing Director at Armstrong Energy Global, an investment platform dedicated to develop, build and operate in the Indian solar market.

Gianluca has over 9 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, spread across different areas, from the development to the financing, construction and then technical, administrative, financial, accounting and fiscal management of energy production assets and their respective investment vehicles setup in different countries. Since joining NextEnergy Capital, Gianluca has contributed to the setup and growth of the business and the corporate structure, gaining progressively external exposure and internal responsibilities. Gianluca has also been involved in the provision of asset management services to both lenders and sponsors and actively participated to lobbying activities carried-out by key Italian sector associations such as Assilea. Previously, Gianluca worked in the investment banking industry for 6 years, across different financial institutions (Calyon, Mediobanca, Dresdner Kleinwort and lastly Morgan Stanley) and countries (Italy and UK), gaining an extensive experience in the energy and infrastructure sector, having worked on several landmark M&A and capital market transactions closed both in Italy and abroad.
